A U.S. Capitol Police officer, 42-year-old Jared Michael Lemon, from Owings, Maryland, has been apprehended and faces five counts of child pornography possession. Maryland State Police took him into custody at his home early Monday morning following a several-month investigation initiated by an online tip.
Authorities received information regarding Lemon's online activities, including a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children indicating that Lemon had uploaded suspected illicit material. The investigation subsequently revealed Lemon's employment as a police officer with the U.S. Capitol Police since 2005.

In December 2022, state police executed a search warrant at Lemon's residence, seizing and examining his electronic devices. The USCP, informed of the allegations at that time, reassigned Lemon to administrative duties, restricting his public interaction. Following his arrest, the USCP announced Lemon's suspension pending the outcome of the case.
