A Christmas concert took an unexpected turn when a fight erupted among attendees during Mariah Carey's performance of her iconic holiday hit, "All I Want for Christmas is You." The 55-year-old singer appeared unfazed by the commotion, continuing her performance as the altercation unfolded.
Video footage captures two men engaged in a physical confrontation while a woman attempts to intervene. The incident seemingly began after a woman near the stage shoved another woman seated in front of her, prompting the latter to retaliate by throwing her drink. This escalated into a brawl involving the two men, as captured in a video circulating online.

Amidst the chaos, onlookers expressed concern over the lack of security intervention. However, Carey remained focused, delivering her performance to close out the show.

"All I Want for Christmas is You," a holiday staple since its 1994 release, has achieved remarkable success, topping the Billboard Hot 100 and selling over 10 million copies. Carey has shared that the song's creation was initially prompted by her record company, despite her initial hesitation due to the early stage of her career. She emphasized her intention for the song to possess a timeless quality, avoiding contemporary sounds of the time. The song's enduring popularity has far exceeded her initial expectations.

However, the song's success has also led to legal challenges. In November 2023, musician Andy Stone, lead vocalist of Vince Vance and the Valiants, filed a lawsuit against Carey, alleging copyright infringement. Stone, who co-wrote a song with the same title in 1989, claimed that Carey's version copied the "compositional structure" and approximately half of the lyrics from his earlier work. He argued that Carey and her team likely had access to his song due to its commercial success and even a White House performance in 1994, the same year Carey's version was released.

Carey filed for dismissal of the lawsuit in August. While a judge expressed inclination towards dismissal and considered sanctions against Stone and his legal team for filing a potentially "frivolous" lawsuit, the case remains ongoing. Stone had previously sued Carey in June 2022 in Louisiana but dropped the claim five months later.
