Jordan Peterson Critiques Trudeau's Immigration Policy Shift

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

Renowned psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson has sharply criticized Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's recent announcement of immigration cuts, attributing Canada's current immigration challenges to Trudeau's policies. Peterson, speaking with Fox News' Brian Kilmeade, argued that Trudeau's previous policies, which he characterized as having "demolished the Canadian immigration system," are directly responsible for the current crisis. He dismissed Trudeau's attempts to blame educational institutions and corporations as indicative of a "14-year-old mentality."

Peterson's comments follow Trudeau's recent public acknowledgement of Canada's rapid population growth and his suggestion that the government "could have acted quicker" to manage the influx of migrants after the COVID-19 pandemic. Trudeau also pointed fingers at "bad actors" like fraudulent educational institutions and large corporations for exploiting the immigration system.

Trudeau announced plans to reduce immigration numbers over the next three years, including limiting the temporary foreign worker program and decreasing the number of permanent residents allowed into Canada by up to 27% by 2027. Canadian Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre echoed Peterson's criticism, accusing Trudeau of attempting to rectify a problem of his own creation. Poilievre emphasized the need to return to an immigration system that effectively serves Canada's interests.

Fox News reached out to Trudeau's office for a response but did not receive an immediate reply.
