In a Tuesday night slugfest at Citi Field, Francisco Álvarez smashed two home runs, leading the New York Mets to an electrifying 11-10 win over the Chicago White Sox. The Mets built a commanding seven-run lead, but the White Sox clawed their way back, making it a nail-biter until the final out.

The rookie catcher's first blast came in the first inning, a two-run shot off White Sox starter Lucas Giolito. Brett Baty followed suit with a home run of his own, propelling the Mets to a 5-0 lead in their highest-scoring first inning of the season. Álvarez struck again in the sixth, launching another two-run homer off Tanner Banks, pushing the Mets' advantage to 11-4. The 21-year-old Álvarez now has an impressive 19 home runs this season, leading all catchers and tied with Texas Rangers' Josh Jung for most among rookies.

The White Sox refused to go quietly, mounting a furious comeback in the later innings. Jake Burger's two-run double and Yasmani Grandal's two-run single in the seventh, along with a passed ball by Álvarez, chipped away at the Mets' lead. Andrew Benintendi's RBI single in the ninth brought the White Sox within one run, but Mets closer David Robertson induced a game-ending flyout from Tim Anderson with runners on second and third to secure the win.

While Giolito struggled, giving up a season-high eight runs in just 3 2/3 innings, other Mets hitters contributed to the offensive outburst. Tommy Pham and Pete Alonso added RBIs in the first inning, while Jeff McNeil had two RBI singles, DJ Stewart hit his first home run in nearly two years, and Francisco Lindor doubled in a run. Grandal also homered for the White Sox off Mets starter Carlos Carrasco.

The Mets and White Sox, infrequent opponents, played a memorable game filled with offensive fireworks. The victory marked the Mets' eighth win in their last 12 games.
