Diagnosed with severe autism at the age of two, Max initially struggled with fine motor skills. His mother, Miki Park, introduced him to the Rubik's Cube at age nine, hoping it would help improve his dexterity. Little did they know, this simple puzzle would unlock a hidden talent and open doors to a world of connection.

Max's father, Schwan Park, recalls his son's rapid grasp of the cube-solving methods, noting his natural aptitude. Participating in cubing competitions provided Max with an unexpected social outlet. "We were always seeking ways for Max to develop social skills," Schwan shared. "At the competitions, we saw Max truly come alive. He found a community where he felt comfortable communicating and connecting with others."

This supportive environment proved invaluable for Max's development. His passion for cubing propelled him to victory, winning the World Rubik’s Cube Championship in 2017 and the Red Bull Rubik's Cube World Cup in 2021. He was even featured in the 2020 Netflix documentary "The Speed Cubers." While his family always believed in his potential, breaking the world record still came as a thrilling surprise, a blend of skill and a touch of luck.

Schwan acknowledges that even he and his wife only possess a basic understanding of cube-solving. Max's story resonates beyond the world of speedcubing, offering encouragement to parents of autistic children. Schwan emphasizes the importance of exploring diverse activities to discover a child's passion, highlighting the transformative power of finding something that truly "sticks."
