As wildfires rage across the Los Angeles area, the NFL is actively monitoring the situation and has developed a contingency plan for the upcoming Rams-Vikings wild-card game scheduled for Monday night. Fox News correspondent Bill Melugin, reporting from the Pacific Palisades and Santa Monica border, indicated that firefighters were working diligently, though no active flames were visible from his vantage point.
The Rams are slated to host the Vikings at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, but the venue's viability is uncertain due to the ongoing fires and resulting air quality concerns. The NFL has stated its intention to proceed with the game as planned at SoFi Stadium, but if conditions deteriorate, State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, home of the Cardinals, has been designated as the backup location.

The league emphasized its commitment to the safety of the Los Angeles community and expressed gratitude for the efforts of first responders. They are maintaining close communication with public officials, both teams, and the NFLPA to assess the evolving situation. An earlier statement from the NFL on Wednesday also confirmed their ongoing monitoring of the wildfires.
The Rams had a scheduled off day Wednesday, while the Chargers, who share SoFi Stadium, limited their players' outdoor practice time due to the hazardous air quality, which reached an unhealthy index of 281 in Inglewood. The Chargers are set to travel to Houston for their own wild-card game on Saturday.

With evacuation orders impacting at least 70,000 residents across the affected areas, the Rams confirmed that no players or staff members have been directly impacted by the fires, but the team remains vigilant. They expressed solidarity with the community and thanked the first responders battling the blazes. Rams players, including Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp, shared messages of support and gratitude on social media.
