Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Golf legend Tiger Woods is set to make his return to professional golf at the Genesis Invitational, marking his first PGA Tour appearance since the British Open last July. This comeback follows a microdiscectomy procedure in September, his sixth back surgery, and the recent passing of his mother, Kultida Woods.

Woods will be teeing off at Torrey Pines, a course where the Genesis Invitational has been relocated due to wildfires affecting the usual venue, Riviera Country Club. This public course holds special significance for Woods, boasting eight victories throughout his career. His last top-10 finish on the PGA Tour also occurred at Torrey Pines during the 2020 Farmers Insurance Open.

The no-cut format of the Genesis Invitational guarantees Woods four rounds of play. This will be his first four-round tournament since the 2024 Masters, where he achieved a record 24th consecutive cut. While he participated in three other majors last year, he missed the cut in each. More recently, Woods has been competing in the TGL, an indoor golf league that launched in January 2025.
