A Father's Plea: Securing the Release of All Hostages and Achieving a Lasting Middle East Peace

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

The recent release of hostages held by Hamas has brought joy to many families in Israel, a testament to the efforts of the Trump administration. However, for families like mine, the wait continues. My son, Itay, a U.S. citizen, remains captive, and the uncertainty surrounding the second phase of the hostage deal is deeply concerning.

While we celebrate with those reunited with their loved ones, we also yearn for the day our family will be whole again. After nearly 500 days of anguish, we pray for a clear framework that guarantees the release of every hostage, whether alive or deceased. The possibility that the remains of those killed in captivity might never be returned is a heartbreaking thought that no family should endure.

My background in mergers and acquisitions gives me a unique perspective on this situation. The current hostage negotiations resemble the stages of an M&A deal. The initial release is like the "signing date," but the crucial "closing" – the return of all hostages – hinges on good faith and secured assets. It's essential that negotiators utilize "escrow" mechanisms and strategic leverage to ensure both sides are invested in a successful outcome.

President Trump's deal-making expertise is invaluable in this complex situation. His understanding of negotiation dynamics has been instrumental in the initial release, and we need his continued leadership to secure the freedom of all remaining hostages. This is a crucial step towards achieving the broader goal of a lasting peace in the Middle East.

With Prime Minister Netanyahu's recent visit to the White House, there's renewed hope for a comprehensive plan – a "Deal of the Century" – that will bring stability to the region and finally bring our loved ones home. This deal must prioritize the safe return of all hostages, including the six U.S. citizens still held captive. We implore President Trump to leverage his skills and experience to achieve this critical objective.
