A miniature 1911 King James Bible, small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, is the star of a captivating Christmas exhibition at Leeds Central Library in England. Measuring a mere 1.9 by 1.3 inches, this tiny testament is believed to be one of the smallest of its kind worldwide. It gained attention during the COVID lockdowns when it was initially discovered.
Alongside this miniature marvel, the library is showcasing a collection of festive treasures, including 19th-century editions of Charles Dickens' works, featuring the beloved "A Christmas Carol".
Visitors can also explore "Mince Pies for Christmas," a children's game book from 1812 filled with riddles and holiday activities. This antique book bears the marks of children who enjoyed its games over two centuries ago. The exhibition is rounded out with illustrated Christmas cards and local newspapers from the 1920s, offering a glimpse into Christmases past.
Senior librarian Rhian Isaac expressed hopes that the exhibition will evoke cherished memories and immerse visitors in the festive spirit by showcasing how Christmas has been celebrated throughout history.
