Aaron Rodgers' Future with the Jets: A Look at Performance and Prospects

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

The New York Jets began the 2024 season with significant anticipation. However, despite Aaron Rodgers' recovery from last year's opening game injury, the team's performance has fallen short of expectations, holding only three wins as they approach Week 14.

Rodgers, a four-time NFL MVP, has expressed his desire to continue playing for the Jets in the upcoming season. He refuted the notion that his future with the team hinges on his performance in the remaining games, stating, "That's absurd, with all due respect. If they want me, great. If these last five games are the deciding factor, maybe they're undervaluing my contributions. Regardless, I aim to play exceptionally well in these final games."

Rodgers reiterated his wish to remain with the Jets into 2025 but acknowledged he wouldn't be resentful if the team chose a different path. "I recently renovated my home in New Jersey. My intention was to play here for a few more years. I hope to perform well and feel valued. If not, I won't be offended or upset." He added that if the Jets aren't interested in retaining him, he'll assess his options, including whether he wants to continue playing at all.

Statistically, Rodgers is experiencing a subpar season, with 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions through 12 games, and no single game exceeding 300 passing yards. The Jets are set to face the Dolphins on Sunday.
