Belichick's genuine interest in the position is evident in his pre-appointment discussions with prominent UNC alumni, including basketball icon Michael Jordan, former New York Giants linebacker Lawrence Taylor, and NFL star Julius Peppers. While Belichick remained tight-lipped about the specifics of these conversations, he described the alumni as "very supportive."

So, I'm excited to spend more time with these people." He emphasized his commitment to the university by signing a five-year contract and asserting his intention to stay long-term.
