The discovery of dismembered bodies in Toluca, Mexico, has raised concerns about escalating cartel activity. Initially, a human leg was found hanging from a pedestrian bridge, leading to a broader investigation. Authorities subsequently uncovered the scattered remains of at least two individuals across various locations within the city. Toluca's Mayor, Raymundo Martínez Carbajal, emphasized the collective responsibility to combat crime, stating, "The issue of crime brings us all together, and we all have to fight it." Notes found alongside some of the remains implicated the Familia Michoacana cartel.

The Familia Michoacana cartel has gained significant influence in the areas surrounding Toluca, sparking fears of an attempted takeover of the city itself. Toluca, the capital of the State of Mexico (distinct from Mexico City, the nation's capital), is located adjacent to Mexico City. Beneath the bridge where the initial leg was discovered, the torso of the same victim was found. Additional remains were located in a separate neighborhood. A second dismembered body was also discovered within the city limits on the same day, with further remains found inside a vehicle in an industrial zone.

The first victim, an unidentified male estimated to be between 35 and 40 years old, has not yet been identified. Information regarding the second victim remains undisclosed at this time.
