While Ed McCaffrey isn't watching his sons play in this year's Super Bowl like he did last year with Christian, his presence in New Orleans is significant. The three-time Super Bowl champion has teamed up with Colt Firearms to advocate for responsible gun ownership.
In a recent interview, McCaffrey emphasized the importance of firearm safety, stating, "If you're exercising your Second Amendment right, it's crucial to do so responsibly. That's the foundation of my partnership with Colt."

McCaffrey joined a campaign alongside NFL greats like Clay Matthews, Fletcher Cox, Adam Vinatieri, and Joe Thomas, culminating in Matthews receiving Colt's Safety Impact Award. McCaffrey expressed his enthusiasm for collaborating with these football legends on this important initiative.
The former Denver Bronco highlighted the prevalence of gun ownership, particularly in states like Colorado with strong hunting traditions. "Many players I've coached, even those in Colorado, are gun owners," he noted. "Regardless of local laws, proper training and responsible handling are essential for everyone who chooses to own a firearm."

McCaffrey stressed the importance of responsible gun ownership, stating, "Owning a firearm is a right, often exercised for hunting or protection. Whatever the reason, safe and responsible operation is paramount. It's a responsibility to oneself, family, and friends. I'm truly impressed by Colt's dedication to promoting firearm safety."
Colt's commitment extends to a $100,000 giveaway if a "safety" occurs during the Super Bowl. McCaffrey also offered advice for current and prospective gun owners, recommending formal safety courses.

"Don't rely solely on casual advice," he advised. "Invest in a proper gun safety course. It's about acquiring knowledge and practicing responsible ownership." He likened it to learning football, emphasizing the importance of structured training and education.
McCaffrey believes that responsible gun ownership requires the same dedication as any other skill. "Just like attending football camps and clinics, gun owners should pursue formal training, obtain necessary licenses, and thoroughly understand firearm operation."
