One month after the sudden passing of her father, Treat Williams, Ellie Williams has shared a deeply moving tribute on social media. The "Everwood" actor tragically died in a vehicular accident in Dorset, Vermont on June 12th, at the age of 71.
Ellie's Instagram post featured a slideshow of cherished photos capturing special moments between her and her father. In her caption, she expressed the profound grief she's experiencing, saying, "I have never experienced this kind of grief before, so it’s hard to put my thoughts into words." She shared how being back home in Vermont for a month felt like just yesterday she was rushing to get there after receiving the devastating news. She poignantly added that it feels like he's simply away filming, but the reality that he won't be coming home keeps hitting her.
Ellie described their bond as a "once-in-a-lifetime love," highlighting the unique and powerful connection between a father and daughter. She expressed her immeasurable love and admiration for her dad, thanking him for the incredible life he provided. Her message concluded with a touching affirmation of their enduring connection: "I know you will walk with me by my side for eternity. Until we find each other in the next life."
The photos Ellie shared depicted a range of heartwarming moments, from a young Ellie playfully shaving her father's beard to Williams tenderly feeding her a bottle as a baby. Other pictures showed them wearing festive party hats, making silly faces with spoons on their noses, and sharing warm embraces. A particularly touching image captured Williams kissing his young daughter on the forehead, while another showed him carrying her on his shoulders, both beaming at the camera.
Williams is survived by his wife of 35 years, Pam Van Sant, and their two children, Ellie and her older brother Gill. Ellie included a family photo taken when she and Gill were children, showing the four of them cuddled together on a couch.
Following the accident, Vermont State Police confirmed Williams' death. Their initial investigation indicated that a Honda SUV stopped, signaled a left turn, and then turned into the path of Williams' northbound motorcycle. Unable to avoid the collision, Williams was thrown from his motorcycle and sustained critical injuries. He was airlifted to Albany Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the SUV was treated for minor injuries at the scene.
Two days after the accident, Ellie shared several Instagram stories expressing her devastation and thanking those who offered support. She posted a throwback photo of her parents, a picture of a jacket embroidered with her father's name, and a photo of their Vermont backyard with the caption, "We're home, Dad."
