Former Employers of Eagles Fan Involved in Viral Tirade Speak Out

Created: JANUARY 26, 2025

Following a viral incident where a Philadelphia Eagles fan directed abusive language towards a Green Bay Packers supporter, the former employers of the individual involved have spoken out. Lawrence Hibbert and Dr. Randal Pinkett, co-founders of BCT Partners, a New Jersey-based DEI-focused firm, addressed the situation in an interview, defending their company against the backlash received on social media.

Pinkett emphasized the need for a more nuanced approach to such situations, highlighting the dangers of a cancel culture mentality. He stressed the importance of condemning the behavior without completely condemning the individual, advocating for room for growth and learning. Hibbert expressed the difficulty of navigating the situation, particularly during the company's 25th-anniversary celebrations, emphasizing their commitment to their values despite the negative attention.

The former employee, identified as Ryan Caldwell, issued a statement expressing regret over his actions, acknowledging the unacceptable nature of his language. He apologized to the Packers fan, Ally Keller, as well as his family, friends, former colleagues, and the wider community. Caldwell also pointed out that the circulating video clip doesn't fully represent the events that unfolded, suggesting provocation played a role.
