In a recent operation dubbed "Operation Return to Sender," the DEA's Rocky Mountain Field Division apprehended ten individuals identified as some of Colorado's most dangerous drug offenders. These individuals, now in ICE custody, are likely to face deportation. The operation is part of a larger effort that has resulted in over 90 arrests in just over two weeks.
The DEA revealed that at least three of the ten most serious offenders are members of the Venezuelan criminal organization, Tren de Aragua (TdA). While these ten represent some of the most significant arrests, a DEA representative indicated that even more dangerous criminals are among the remaining detainees. The charges against these individuals range from drug trafficking, specifically fentanyl distribution, to kidnapping and even child sexual assault.
At least four of the individuals were apprehended during a raid on an illicit nightclub in January.
DEA Special Agent in Charge, Jonathan Pullen, emphasized the ongoing collaboration with law enforcement partners to ensure public safety. He highlighted the increased interagency cooperation since the Trump administration, stating, "We are sharing information and working together in unprecedented ways. The combined resources of the DEA, ICE, HSI, and the FBI are creating a powerful force against criminal activity."
This operation follows a trend of increased ICE raids since the beginning of the Trump administration, with thousands of undocumented individuals detained nationwide. The administration has reportedly urged ICE to significantly increase the number of daily arrests.
