The University of Iowa confirmed the sudden passing of former offensive lineman Cody Ince over the weekend. The 23-year-old died at his Wisconsin home, leaving the Hawkeyes football program in mourning.

Head Coach Kirk Ferentz expressed his deep sorrow, remembering Ince as a remarkable young man and valuable teammate. Ferentz highlighted Ince's love for football, the outdoors, and the importance he placed on family and friendships. The coach shared his and his wife Mary's heartbreak for Ince's fiancée, family, and friends.

While the cause of death remains undisclosed, Ince's obituary states he passed unexpectedly on Saturday near Grantsburg, Wisconsin. Ince's football journey began with the Hawkeyes in 2018. After redshirting his freshman year, he played in 11 games the following season, primarily at left guard. His contributions grew in 2020, starting in the final six games and earning All-Big Ten honorable mention. In his last season with Iowa, Ince started four games and participated in 10.
