Former Representative Tulsi Gabbard has been sworn in as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) after a tight Senate confirmation vote. The White House celebrated the confirmation, emphasizing the importance of filling key cabinet positions. Gabbard's appointment, however, was not without controversy. Her past interactions with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, stance on FISA Section 702, and support for Edward Snowden drew scrutiny. Despite this, she secured confirmation with a 52-48 vote, largely along party lines, with the notable exception of Senator Mitch McConnell, who voiced concerns about her judgment. Attorney General Pam Bondi administered the oath of office in a ceremony attended by President Trump. Following Gabbard's confirmation, the Senate is set to vote on the nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for Secretary of Health and Human Services.
