Justice Served: Florida Executes Killer of Newlywed Couple After 27 Years

Created: JANUARY 14, 2025

Nearly three decades after their brutal murders, James D. Ford, 64, was executed in Florida for the deaths of Greg and Kimberly Malnory. The execution, carried out by lethal injection at Florida State Prison, brought a sense of justice to the victims' families, particularly Greg's mother, Connie Ankney, who tirelessly advocated for this outcome.

The Malnorys, a young couple with a 22-month-old daughter, were found dead on April 7, 1997, at a remote sod farm where Greg worked alongside Ford. Their daughter, Maranda, miraculously survived, strapped in her car seat inside their truck. Greg had been shot and bludgeoned, while Kimberly suffered sexual assault and a fatal beating and gunshot wound. The horrific nature of the crime shocked the small community where they lived.

Ford's conviction was based on substantial evidence, including DNA linking him to the crime scene and witness accounts placing him with the victims shortly before their deaths. He was found with blood and scratches following the murders. Ankney expressed gratitude to Governor DeSantis for signing the death warrant, allowing for a conclusion to this long and painful chapter. She now finds solace in knowing that her son and daughter-in-law can finally rest in peace.
