Following pop superstar Madonna's recent hospitalization for a bacterial infection, her children have reportedly rallied around her. After a stay in intensive care, Madonna is now home and recovering. She has a blended family of six children – two biological and four adopted from Malawi. Let's take a closer look at her eldest children.
Lourdes "Lola" Leon

Madonna's eldest, 26-year-old Lourdes Leon, is the daughter of Madonna and her former partner, Carlos Leon. Lourdes began her modeling career in 2010 with Teen Vogue and has since worked with prominent brands like Marc Jacobs, Miu Miu, and Stella McCartney. A graduate of the famed LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, she later pursued dance at the University of Michigan, proudly financing her own education. Lourdes also has a burgeoning music career under the name Lolahol, with an EP and several singles released. Madonna's 1998 song "Little Star" was a tribute to her daughter.
Rocco Ritchie

Rocco Ritchie, 22, is Madonna's son with film director Guy Ritchie. He's pursuing a career in entertainment as a model and actor, even appearing in his mother's music video for "B---h I'm Madonna." Rocco is also an artist, working under the alias Rhed, and credits his parents' influence for his artistic sensibilities. While he once sparked a custody dispute by choosing to live with his father, he's recently been seen with Madonna and Lourdes at fashion events. He has publicly praised Madonna's parenting style, describing her as "strict but in a good way."

David Banda

Seventeen-year-old David Banda was adopted by Madonna and Guy Ritchie from Malawi in 2006, the same year Madonna established the Raising Malawi charity. The adoption process faced legal hurdles due to residency requirements. Madonna has described a strong bond with David, noting they share much in common. She's also praised his fashion sense, even saying he looks better than her in her own clothes. David has joined his mother in various performances.

Chifundo "Mercy" James

Madonna adopted Mercy James, also 17, from Malawi in 2009 after her divorce from Guy Ritchie. The adoption initially encountered legal challenges. In a heartwarming tribute, Madonna established the Mercy James Institute for Pediatric Surgery and Intensive Care in Malawi in 2017, a first-of-its-kind facility in the country.
