Packers Dominate Dolphins in Frigid Thanksgiving Showdown

Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

The Green Bay Packers secured a convincing 30-17 victory over the Miami Dolphins on Thanksgiving, defying the Dolphins' attempts to overcome their struggles in cold weather. Despite pre-game assertions from Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa about maintaining a strong mindset, the frigid conditions at Lambeau Field seemed to favor the Packers. Jordan Love led the Packers offense, completing 21 of 28 passes for 274 yards and two touchdowns.

Tagovailoa's pre-game comments emphasized the mental aspect of playing in cold weather, downplaying the significant temperature difference between Miami and Green Bay. However, a video circulating on social media highlighted a contrasting approach to pre-game warmups: Packers players were seen warming up in T-shirts and shorts, while Dolphins players bundled up in sweats and hats.

This loss extends the Dolphins' streak of defeats in cold weather games to 12, dating back to 2016. The 27-degree temperature, coupled with 10 mph winds and a wind chill of 18 degrees, proved challenging for Miami. Last season's playoff loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in sub-zero temperatures further underscores this trend.

Despite the loss, Tagovailoa refused to attribute the outcome to the weather, stating that the team wouldn't use the cold as an excuse for their performance. The Dolphins' struggles in cold weather continue to be a narrative, while the Packers demonstrated their ability to thrive in their home environment.
