Redfield: Fauci Email Reveals 'Aggressive Attempt' to Hide COVID Lab Leak Truth

Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

Former CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield reacted strongly to a newly-revealed email from Dr. Anthony Fauci, suggesting it exposes an attempt to conceal the truth about COVID-19's origins. The email, which discusses the possibility of gain-of-function research being connected to the pandemic, contradicts Fauci's public statements, according to Redfield. This revelation reinforces Redfield's belief in a lab origin for the virus, rather than a natural source.

Speaking on "The Story," Redfield expressed disappointment in the leadership of Fauci and then-NIH Director Francis Collins, criticizing their lack of support for open scientific discussion regarding the virus's origins. He pointed to the email as evidence that Fauci acknowledged the unusual nature of the virus's furin-cleavage site and the existence of gain-of-function research.

Redfield stated his reluctance to use the term "cover-up" previously, but now believes the email's content, which mentions unusual virus mutations possibly inserted intentionally, makes the situation clearer. He contends there was a deliberate effort to suppress the lab leak theory. Fauci, who retired from NIAID in 2022, frequently clashed with other medical professionals like Senator Rand Paul and Dr. Jay Bhattacharya on the issue. He was succeeded by Dr. Hugh Auchincloss.

Fauci, who served at NIH since 1968 and led NIAID since 1984, has faced criticism for his COVID-19 recommendations. In a 2022 interview, he denied political bias, emphasizing his commitment to the public. Redfield, however, insists Fauci was not transparent about the lab leak possibility and actively worked to stifle discussion on the topic.
