A series of seemingly random shootings in broad daylight on a Saturday morning in New York City left one man dead and three others injured. The suspect, a 25-year-old male, rode a scooter through Brooklyn and Queens, firing at individuals seemingly at random.
The first incident occurred around 11:10 a.m. in Cypress Hills, where the suspect shot a 21-year-old man in the shoulder. Approximately 20 minutes later, the violence escalated in Queens. On Jamaica Avenue near 108th Street, the gunman shot an 86-year-old man in the back. The victim was transported to Jamaica Hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries. Police also reported that the suspect fired into a crowd on 108th Street, though no one was hit in that incident.
The spree continued with the shooting of a 44-year-old man near 126th Street. He was struck in the cheek and remains in critical condition at a local hospital. Finally, on 134th Street, a 63-year-old man was shot in the shoulder. His injuries are considered serious but non-life-threatening.

The suspect was apprehended relatively quickly, around 1:10 p.m. near 94th Avenue. Law enforcement officials recovered a semiautomatic pistol, extended magazines, and the scooter used in the attacks. The NYPD had circulated images of the suspect to officers throughout the city, leading to the swift arrest.

During a press conference, Assistant Chief Joseph Kenny stated that the attacks appeared to be random, with no clear motive or pattern connecting the victims. The scooter used in the crimes was also revealed to be unregistered and operating without a license plate. The investigation is ongoing.
