Singer-songwriter Sheryl Crow recently made headlines by announcing her decision to part ways with her Tesla. In an Instagram post, Crow explained that her move was motivated by Elon Musk's prominent role in President Donald Trump's administration. She expressed her disapproval, stating that "there comes a time when you have to decide who you are willing to align with." Crow's post included a video of her waving goodbye to the electric vehicle.
The musician, a known critic of President Trump, further revealed that she donated the proceeds from the Tesla sale to NPR, an organization she believes is "under threat" by President Musk. This action seems to reflect the concerns voiced by some Democratic lawmakers and liberal commentators regarding Musk's position as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

This isn't Crow's first public expression of discontent with the Trump administration. In 2017, she voiced her hope for Trump's impeachment, citing the "chaos" of his early presidency and its impact on daily life. She also expressed concern for American democracy and the dissemination of truth.

Crow's decision comes as Trump and Musk are scheduled for a joint interview with Fox News host Sean Hannity. The interview, slated to air on February 18th, will reportedly cover the DOGE initiative, Trump's first 100 days, and other current events.
Interestingly, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez has also expressed interest in trading her Tesla, citing its non-union manufacturing. In 2023, she explained that her initial purchase was made during the pandemic for safe travel between New York and Washington but that newer models with better range were now available. She indicated that she and her team were actively exploring a trade-in.
