UK's Top Builder's Café Crowned After 8-Month Competition

After an eight-month competition and over 10,000 votes, The Hungry Hossee café in Corby, Northamptonshire, has been named "Britain's top builder's café," winning by a mere 15 votes. The eatery, known for its generous portions and the colossal "Big One" breakfast, edged out competitors to claim the coveted title.

Owner Shelaine Crabtree expressed her delight at the win, emphasizing the hard work of her team and the positive impact it will have on the community. The "Big One" features a staggering array of breakfast staples, including three each of sausages, beef burgers, fried eggs, bacon, black pudding, square sausages, beans, and mushrooms, among other items.

Crabtree believes the café's success stems from consistency and a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring customers have the same enjoyable experience every visit. She highlighted the multi-generational clientele, now serving the children and grandchildren of loyal patrons.

The Hungry Hossee has been a local fixture for two decades, attracting customers from around the globe, including Vietnam, America, and Australia, who frequently return to the café. Jack Edwards, senior producer of the Bald Builders Breakfast radio show, which organized the competition, underscored the importance of independent cafés like The Hungry Hossee in fostering community spirit and providing quality food.
