Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Dallas police are investigating the death of Carter McIntosh, a 28-year-old investment banker at Jefferies Group, as an "unexplained death." McIntosh's body was discovered in a Dallas apartment building on January 27, 2025. Authorities are working to determine the cause of death and whether the apartment was McIntosh's residence.

McIntosh joined Jefferies' Dallas office in September 2023, specializing in technology, media, and telecommunications companies. Jefferies CEO Richard Handler and President Brian Friedman confirmed McIntosh's passing in a memo to employees, expressing condolences and offering support to his family and colleagues.

McIntosh's LinkedIn profile indicates prior analyst roles at various firms, including Goldman Sachs, and a finance degree from Seton Hall University. His death marks the third instance of a young banker's passing in the past year. In May 2024, 25-year-old Bank of America trader Adnan Deumic died unexpectedly while playing soccer.

Weeks before Deumic's death, 35-year-old Leo Lukenas, also employed by Bank of America in New York City, passed away due to an acute coronary artery thrombus. While the demanding work hours of the banking industry have been highlighted in the wake of these deaths, no official link has been established between their passing and their professional workload.
