Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department are investigating the discovery of a severely decomposed body found below a cliff in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, on Saturday. A hiker spotted the remains from an overlook above and alerted authorities. The body, believed to be that of an adult, was located several hundred yards down the cliff. Investigators suspect the individual fell from Dina’s Vistapoint and had been deceased for a considerable time, given the advanced state of decomposition.

Paramedics declared the person dead at the scene. Authorities have stated that this incident is unrelated to the discovery of human legs along the shoreline last week.

While the cause of death remains undisclosed, the case is being handled by the homicide unit. As of Monday, the body has not been identified. The Sheriff's Department encourages anyone with information to contact their Homicide Bureau or Crime Stoppers.
