Democrats' Censorship of RFK Jr. Shows How Far They've Strayed

Created: JANUARY 24, 2025

The Democratic Party's recent actions against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. highlight a significant shift from its historical principles, according to Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio). During an appearance on "Hannity," Jordan discussed a hearing where Kennedy, a Democratic presidential candidate, faced harsh criticism from Rep. Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands) and other Democrats on the House Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government.

Kennedy, nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, argued against accusations leveled by Plaskett, asserting they were defamatory and designed to silence him. Jordan echoed this sentiment, telling Hannity that the Democratic Party has become increasingly focused on censorship, even targeting a prominent figure within their own historical lineage.

Jordan emphasized the importance of free speech and the right to express political views without being targeted. He found it particularly striking that the Democrats were censuring a member of the Kennedy family, a name deeply intertwined with the party's history. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Virginia) even stated during the hearing that RFK Jr. had "brought shame" to the Kennedy name.

The hearing also saw Rep. Deborah Wasserman Schultz (D-Florida) attempt to move the proceedings to an "executive session," which would have effectively shut down public testimony. Wasserman Schultz justified this move by citing alleged antisemitic and ethnically insensitive comments made by Kennedy prior to the hearing. Kennedy, however, refuted these claims as slanderous and asserted he wasn't given a proper opportunity to respond.

Kennedy maintained his stance on the NIH study in question, stating he never suggested it was deliberately manipulated and that his words were being misconstrued. He also reiterated that the Biden administration had taken steps to censor him early in its tenure, and even his presidential campaign launch speech was swiftly removed from YouTube. This, according to Jordan and Kennedy, paints a concerning picture of the current political climate and the Democratic Party's approach to dissenting voices.
