Following President Biden's pardon of his son, Hunter, Devon Archer, Hunter's former business partner and fellow Burisma board member, has emphasized the need for an impartial Justice Department. Instead of commenting directly on the pardon, Archer expressed his hope that the Trump administration will restore the DOJ to its original principles, free from political influence.
Archer stated, "I look forward to the Trump administration restoring the Justice Department to an institution that reflects the founding principles of justice and adheres to federal laws akin to its inception on July 1, 1870. The DOJ needs to be an impartial institution again rather than being driven by personal or political agendas as witnessed in recent years."

Archer himself has faced legal challenges, with a past conviction related to defrauding a Native American tribe later overturned, then reinstated. His lawyer maintains Archer's innocence and plans to appeal. This legal battle adds another layer of complexity to Archer's call for impartial justice.

President Biden's pardon of Hunter covers a decade of potential offenses, including Hunter's time at Burisma. The president defended his decision, citing Hunter's struggles with addiction and claiming he was treated unfairly. This pardon has sparked criticism from Republicans, who have long questioned Hunter Biden's business activities.

Archer's previous testimony before the House Oversight Committee detailed the business connections between Joe and Hunter Biden, alleging Joe Biden's involvement in Hunter's business dealings. This testimony contradicted prior claims by the president and his staff that he never discussed his son's business matters.

Archer's testimony also highlighted the perceived value of "the brand" – the Biden name – in Hunter's business dealings, particularly with Burisma. He claimed Burisma would have failed without the association with the Biden name. Democrats, however, maintain Hunter Biden committed no wrongdoing.

President Biden attributed Hunter's legal troubles to "raw politics" and expressed hope that the public would understand his decision as a father and a president. This pardon continues to fuel the ongoing political debate surrounding the Biden family.
