Martinez's three-run blast, his 20th of the season, came off reliever Roansy Contreras after Will Smith and Max Muncy drew walks. Peralta immediately followed with a solo shot, giving the Dodgers a 6-4 advantage.

Contreras and starting pitcher Osvaldo Bido struggled with control, issuing four walks in the fourth and fifth innings. Both pitchers were also called for pitch-clock violations.

The Dodgers' bullpen, despite recent struggles, navigated two bases-loaded situations in the final three innings. Daniel Hudson earned his first save in over a year, working out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth with three consecutive outs. Hudson returned to the team last week after recovering from a torn ACL.

In the seventh, the Dodgers escaped another bases-loaded jam thanks to strong defense. Ryan Brasier recorded three outs, aided by a catch by Miguel Rojas and Mookie Betts.

The Dodgers initially scored two runs in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Jason Heyward and an RBI single by Rojas. Pittsburgh's Bryan Reynolds hit a solo homer in the first, and Jack Suwinski extended the Pirates' lead with a three-run homer in the fourth off Dodgers starter Bobby Miller.

Miller allowed four runs and five hits in 5 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol has been unavailable due to an arm issue. If he can't pitch Thursday, the team may place him on the injured list. The Pirates recalled pitcher Yohan Ramirez and sent down Luis Ortiz. The Dodgers recalled Bryan Hudson and optioned Gavin Stone.

The Pirates will start Johan Oviedo (3-9, 4.61 ERA) in the next game, while the Dodgers will send Julio Urías (5-5, 4.94) to the mound.
