Matthew Inman, a former treasurer for the Orange County Democratic Party and president of the LGBTQ activist group Rainbow Democrats, was arrested in January on charges related to child pornography. The 39-year-old Florida resident is accused of transporting child sexual abuse material, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Middle District of Florida. Authorities allege that Inman possessed videos depicting the sexual abuse of young children. Furthermore, during an online conversation with an undercover officer posing as the father of a 9-year-old boy, Inman allegedly expressed interest in meeting and sexually assaulting the child, and shared explicit material with the officer. Following the online interaction, the FBI obtained a search warrant for Inman's residence. During the search, Inman reportedly attempted to delete videos from his phone while hiding from law enforcement in his attic.

In the wake of the arrest, both the Orange County Democratic Party and Rainbow Democrats released statements. Rainbow Democrats expressed shock and offered condolences to victims of child sexual abuse, stating that Inman had been suspended and would be officially removed from the organization. The Orange County Democratic Party condemned the alleged actions and confirmed that Inman was suspended from all roles and responsibilities. Inman's X (formerly Twitter) account identified him as an LGBTQ+ and civil rights activist, and noted his affiliations with the two organizations. Inman was booked into the John E. Polk Correctional Facility on January 16th and remains in custody.
