In a shocking case that has captivated France, 72-year-old Dominique Pelicot has been found guilty and sentenced to the maximum 20 years in prison for drugging his then-wife, Gisèle Pelicot, and allowing strangers to rape her while he filmed the assaults. Pelicot admitted to sedating his wife with drugs hidden in her food and drinks, rendering her unconscious for hours while he and online recruits abused her. The trial, held in Avignon, lasted over three months and exposed the horrific nature of the crimes, including the existence of over 20,000 photos and videos meticulously cataloged by Pelicot.
