Gal Luft, a dual U.S.-Israeli citizen, faces serious accusations of arms trafficking and acting as an unregistered agent of China. A 2022 indictment unsealed this week alleges Luft brokered arms deals with countries like Libya, the UAE, and Kenya without proper licensing, and facilitated oil discussions between Iran and a Chinese energy firm, violating U.S. sanctions. These charges surface just days after Luft released a video claiming he was arrested in Cyprus to prevent him from testifying to Congress about alleged bribery involving the Biden family and a source linked to the Chinese military. Luft asserts he shared this information with the FBI and DOJ in 2019, but his claims were allegedly suppressed. He currently remains at large after escaping custody in Cyprus while awaiting extradition to the U.S.

The indictment further accuses Luft of recruiting and paying a former high-ranking U.S. government official, who was advising then-President-elect Trump in 2016, to advocate pro-China policies. Luft allegedly orchestrated the publication of comments attributed to this official in a Chinese newspaper. Luft is the co-director of the Institute for the Analysis of Global Security, a Washington D.C.-based think tank specializing in energy, security, and economic trends. The think tank has not yet issued a statement regarding these allegations.
