Created: JANUARY 25, 2025

San Antonio Spurs coach Gregg Popovich, 75, recently released a statement expressing gratitude for the support he's received while recovering from a mild stroke suffered in November. Popovich has been on indefinite leave as he recovers. He shared his appreciation for the overwhelming support from the community, the Spurs organization, friends, and family, and acknowledged the hard work of his rehabilitation team. The Spurs have been led by assistant coach Mitch Johnson in Popovich's absence and currently hold a 13-13 record following a recent loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Popovich, the NBA's all-time winningest coach with 1,401 regular season victories and five NBA championships, is in his 29th season with the Spurs.
