With the Oilers down 3-1 in the third period, Leon Draisaitl passed to Corey Perry, who then slipped the puck past Capitals goalie Logan Thompson, closing the gap to 3-2.

The unusual aspect? A fan-launched platter of nachos had landed on the ice just before the goal, seemingly distracting Thompson. The Capitals goalie protested to officials, but the goal stood. Capitals coach Spencer Carbery remarked post-game, "That's a first. I don't think I've ever seen a nachos-on-the-ice National Hockey League game." He even joked about salvaging the snack for the locker room.

Thompson later admitted his fault, acknowledging he should have played until the whistle despite the unusual interference. He also revealed he spotted the nacho-tossing fan and was less than pleased. Perry, on the other hand, confessed to being completely oblivious to the cheesy distraction.
