President Biden's Unacknowledged Grandchild: White House Remains Silent

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre declined to comment on President Biden's seventh grandchild, Navy Joan Roberts, during Wednesday's White House press briefing. The four-year-old is the daughter of Hunter Biden, and the President has yet to publicly acknowledge her. A reporter specifically questioned Jean-Pierre about a recent New York Times article focusing on Roberts and asked if President Biden recognizes her as his granddaughter, especially given they haven't met. Jean-Pierre's response was simply, "I don't have anything to share from here," continuing the administration's pattern of avoiding questions regarding Roberts. The Times report indicated that Biden's aides have been instructed to state that the president has six grandchildren, excluding Roberts. This aligns with Biden's public statements, including remarks made at a White House "take your child to work day" event in April, where he mentioned having six grandchildren whom he speaks with daily. Last week, Hunter Biden settled a child support case with Lunden Alexis Roberts, Navy's mother, concluding a protracted paternity dispute. The settlement involved Hunter providing his daughter with some of his artwork, and Roberts agreeing to drop her request to change their child's last name to "Biden."
