Scheffler's Remarkable Par Save at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Created: JANUARY 27, 2025

Golfer Scottie Scheffler displayed incredible resilience during the second round of the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, executing an extraordinary par save on the 18th hole. His tee shot landed on the beach, leaving him with a difficult decision. Instead of taking a penalty drop, Scheffler opted to search for his ball, a gamble that paid off. He described the situation, explaining his reasoning for the risky choice.

Having located his ball, Scheffler faced the daunting challenge of hitting it back onto the course, over a cliff, and ideally onto the fairway. He expressed that the unpredictability of the shot made it particularly challenging, aiming simply to clear the rocks. Successfully landing his ball on the fairway grass, approximately 180 yards out, Scheffler still faced a difficult approach shot. He described the shot selection process and his relief at hitting the green.

Scheffler then two-putted for par, expressing satisfaction with the outcome given the initial circumstances. This completed a 2-under 70 round, placing him at seven-under par overall, tied for 20th. Leader Sepp Straka held a commanding lead at -14.
