Author Stephen King has rejoined the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, after previously declaring it "too toxic." His return was marked by immediate criticism of former President Donald Trump and X owner Elon Musk.
King's reappearance began with a seemingly innocuous question to his followers: "I’m baaaack! Did you miss me?" Musk himself responded with a welcoming emoji. However, the friendly exchange quickly soured when King posted, "Just wanted to say that Trump is a traitorous, Putin-loving [expletive]! Goes double for Elon!"

This outburst contrasts sharply with King's November declaration that he was leaving the platform due to its negative environment. At the time, he encouraged his followers to find him on Meta's Threads. Interestingly, this farewell message is still pinned to his X profile.

King's return coincides with the release of the film adaptation of his short story, "The Monkey." While the timing may be coincidental, it has certainly drawn attention. King has a history of criticizing both Trump and Musk. During Trump's first presidency, King advocated for his impeachment and compared his immigration policies to scenes from his own novels. He has also clashed with Musk regarding X's verification system and funding for Ukraine.
