Bullock maintained that he had no intention of injuring DuBose. "My goal was never to deliberately hurt someone or take them out of the game," he explained, according to KPRC-TV. "I was simply reacting to the ball and making a play. I hope he recovers quickly, and my thoughts are with him and his family." Despite his explanation, Bullock received a penalty for the hit, and DuBose exhibited movements resembling the "fencing response," a concerning sign after head trauma.

Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, who has experienced multiple concussions himself, expressed his distress over the incident. "Seeing that happen live was really tough," Tagovailoa admitted. "I feel responsible for putting him in that vulnerable position. It was hard to continue playing after witnessing that. This is a physical sport, but you never want to see anyone get hurt like that." Tagovailoa reflected on his own concussion experiences, emphasizing his concern for DuBose's well-being.

This incident follows another controversial hit by Texans linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair on Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence earlier in the month, resulting in a three-game suspension for Al-Shaair.
