A Denton County, Texas man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2019 murder of his pregnant sister. Eduardo Arevalo, now 23, admitted to killing 23-year-old Viridiana Arevalo, who was eight months pregnant at the time. The initial charge was capital murder, which carried a potential sentence of life without parole.

Viridiana Arevalo was reported missing in December 2019 by her boyfriend. A note suggesting she intended to take her own life was discovered by family members. However, investigations revealed a different story. Eduardo Arevalo confessed to strangling his sister and fabricating the suicide note. He initially hid the body outside of town before moving it to an alleyway in The Colony, Texas, where it was eventually found. Surveillance footage from the alley led authorities to identify Eduardo as the prime suspect. He reportedly admitted to the crime, stating that his sister was an "embarrassment" to the family.

This tragic case highlights the devastating consequences of violence within families. The plea deal reached in this case resulted in a 40-year prison sentence for Eduardo Arevalo.
