A search operation is underway in Minnesota following the disappearance of two men and a young girl in the Vermillion River. The incident occurred Monday evening near Diamond Island, close to where the Vermillion meets the Mississippi River. The group was part of a family gathering, with one man fishing from the bank while the other two adults and the child were in the water. When the swimmers began to struggle, the man on the shore attempted a rescue, successfully pulling one adult woman to safety before returning for the others. Sadly, the remaining two men and the girl submerged and did not resurface.

Authorities from the Goodhue County Sheriff's Office have identified the missing individuals as residents of Oakdale, Minnesota, all belonging to the same household. None of the three were strong swimmers, and they were not using life vests at the time. The area where they were swimming initially appears shallow, at approximately three feet deep, but then abruptly descends to a depth of about nine feet. The search for the missing individuals is ongoing.
