Former President Donald Trump's stern warning to Hamas regarding the release of hostages has garnered support from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu affirmed that Trump's focus on holding Hamas accountable, rather than the Israeli government, is the correct approach. This follows Trump's declaration on Truth Social that there would be "all hell to pay" if the hostages, including seven Americans, are not released before he potentially reassumes the presidency on January 20, 2025.

Trump criticized the lack of action in securing the release of those captured during Hamas's October 7 attack on Israel. This attack resulted in over 1,100 deaths and the kidnapping of at least 250 individuals, of whom 101 remain captive. Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of pressuring Hamas and its backers rather than yielding to their demands.
