According to reports from the National Security Council, Russia is allegedly constructing a drone manufacturing plant east of Moscow using materials supplied by Iran. This facility is intended to bolster Russia's drone arsenal for use in the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.

John Kirby, the National Security Council's Coordinator for Strategic Communications, revealed this intelligence on Friday, stating that Russia has already received hundreds of one-way attack drones and related production equipment from Iran since May. The transfer process, as detailed by the NSC, involves transporting the drones from Amirabad, Iran, across the Caspian Sea to Makhachkala, Russia, before their deployment in Ukraine.

This collaboration between Russia and Iran has drawn sharp criticism, with Kirby emphasizing that these actions violate UN Security Council Resolution 2231, which prohibits such transfers without UN approval. The US has vowed to hold both nations accountable and is working with international partners to address the issue.

Furthermore, the US government plans to issue an advisory detailing the risks associated with Iran's drone program and the illicit methods employed to acquire components. This advisory aims to prevent businesses from inadvertently supporting the Iranian government's efforts.
