Legendary actor Dick Van Dyke, nearing 99, has been safely evacuated from his Malibu residence along with his wife, Arlene Silver, and their pets (excluding one cat, Bobo, who escaped during the evacuation) due to the rapidly spreading Franklin Fire. Van Dyke updated concerned fans via Facebook, expressing hope for Bobo's safety and the survival of their Serra Retreat community.
The wildfire, which ignited Monday night north of Pepperdine University, has expanded to over 2,800 acres, impacting over 18,000 residents and 8,100 structures, with 2,000 buildings under mandatory evacuation. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. Van Dyke's home was recently featured in Coldplay's music video for "All My Love," celebrating his extensive Hollywood career.
Other celebrities residing in the affected area, including actress Mira Sorvino and singer Cher, have also evacuated. Sorvino confirmed her family's safe evacuation on X (formerly Twitter), while representatives for Cher stated she is currently staying in a hotel with her pets.
