At the Munich Security Conference, Vice President JD Vance drew a parallel between Elon Musk's criticisms of Europe and Greta Thunberg's climate activism in the United States. He humorously suggested that if American democracy could withstand years of Thunberg's pronouncements, Europe could handle a few months of Musk's commentary.
During his speech, Vance emphasized the importance of European leaders listening to their constituents. He highlighted Thunberg's prominent role in raising climate concerns, recalling her appearances before U.S. Senate and House committees where she challenged lawmakers on climate inaction. He then contrasted this with Musk's recent clashes with European authorities over censorship and his endorsements of right-wing parties in Germany and Britain.

Musk's support for the Alternative for Germany (AfD) and the Reform party has drawn criticism, particularly his remarks on preserving German culture and values amidst multiculturalism.
