In an exclusive interview with Fox News Chief Foreign Correspondent Trey Yingst, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy offered insights into the evolving dynamics of the ongoing conflict, particularly concerning the use of long-range missiles and the relationship with Western allies. Zelenskyy, dressed in a dark sweater bearing the Ukrainian coat of arms, spoke candidly from a train car, just hours before authorizing the launch of six U.S.-supplied long-range missiles into southern Russia, a move he described as yielding battlefield results. This decision, following months of warnings from Russia about potential escalation, marks a significant turning point in the war, now exceeding 1,000 days.
Zelenskyy emphasized the reliance on U.S. approval for weapons deployment, noting that European partners often defer to American decisions. He expressed frustration with this process, stating that European support is often contingent on U.S. consent. The Ukrainian president also touched on the challenges faced by his troops on the eastern front lines, citing shortages of ammunition and artillery shells. He described a recent top-secret visit to Kupyansk, Kramatorsk, and Pokrovsk, where he met with soldiers and witnessed firsthand the evolving nature of the conflict.

During his visit to the front lines, Zelenskyy observed the construction of defensive trenches aimed at slowing the Russian advance, now bolstered by North Korean troops. He highlighted the need for continued Western support to counter this evolving threat. The president also addressed the U.S. reaction to Ukraine targeting energy infrastructure within Russia, noting American displeasure with these actions.
