Alabama Veteran Fatally Stabbed on New Year's Eve; Girlfriend and Her Son Arrested

A 68-year-old U.S. military veteran, Earnest Christion Jr., was tragically killed in a stabbing incident at his Birmingham home on New Year's Eve. Birmingham police officers responded to a 911 call around 7 p.m. and discovered Christion unresponsive with a stab wound. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

Following the incident, a homicide investigation was initiated, and a reward of up to $5,000 was offered for information leading to an arrest. Thanks to community tips, detectives identified and obtained arrest warrants for 60-year-old Zingy Gamble, Christion's girlfriend, and her 40-year-old son, La Verne Gamble.

According to authorities, a financial disagreement between Zingy Gamble and Christion is believed to be the motive behind the stabbing. Both suspects are currently in custody at the Jefferson County Jail. Zingy Gamble is being held without bond, while La Verne Gamble's bond is set at $15,000 for the murder charge.
