During Tuesday night's Subway Series clash, Yankees infielder Oswaldo Cabrera caught the attention of fans and commentators alike, not for his on-field performance, but for a rather unusual accessory. As he took the field as a defensive replacement against the Mets, a tooth was spotted dangling from his necklace.

YES Network reporter Meredith Marakovits shed light on the peculiar ornament, revealing its sentimental value. Cabrera explained that the tooth belonged to his grandmother, Anna, and he was wearing it at his mother's behest. A dutiful son, Cabrera simply stated that he follows his mother's instructions. Marakovits, while acknowledging Cabrera's filial piety, admitted she had never witnessed anything quite like it.

Cabrera replaced Josh Donaldson, who had earlier pinch-hit for Jake Bauers. Though he had an at-bat, Cabrera struck out. Despite this, the Yankees secured a 7-6 victory over the Mets. The Mets faced their own share of drama when reliever Drew Smith was ejected before even throwing a pitch due to a sticky substance detected on his hands.

With this win, the Yankees improved their record to 39-29, while the Mets fell to 31-36. The Subway Series continues Wednesday evening.
