Jay-Z Countersues Accuser, Claiming Extortion and False Allegations

Created: JANUARY 05, 2025

Music mogul Jay-Z has launched a legal counteroffensive against a woman who previously accused him of sexual assault, alleging that the accusations were fabricated and driven by financial motives. The lawsuit, filed against the accuser, identified as "Jane Doe," and her legal team, claims that the now-dismissed sexual assault suit was a calculated attempt to inflict harm and extort money.

Jay-Z's legal team contends that the accuser admitted to his representatives that the assault allegations were untrue. The lawsuit further alleges that the accuser's attorney, Tony Buzbee, encouraged her to pursue the case despite her admission, aiming to maximize financial gain. It also claims Buzbee intentionally implicated Jay-Z in the lawsuit to bolster its potential value.

Buzbee, in response, has vehemently denied the allegations, asserting that Jay-Z's team has been harassing and intimidating the accuser to recant her story. He maintains that the accuser stands by her claims and that the quotes attributed to her in Jay-Z's lawsuit are fabricated. Buzbee characterizes the lawsuit as a bullying tactic and vows to address it in court.

The original lawsuit, which also named Sean "Diddy" Combs as a defendant, alleged that the two rappers were involved in the sexual assault of a minor at an MTV VMAs after-party in 2000. The lawsuit was later voluntarily dismissed by the accuser. Following the dismissal, Jay-Z released a statement celebrating the victory and condemning the allegations as frivolous and fictitious. He highlighted the trauma the accusations caused him and his family and criticized the legal system for allowing such claims to be made without evidence.
