A Los Angeles first-grade teacher has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting six female students. Martin Reyes Jr., 29, who taught at Sunrise Elementary School, allegedly abused the girls during recess inside a classroom, according to Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón.

Reyes' arrest followed a search warrant executed after multiple reports of sexual abuse against students. District Attorney Gascón stressed the importance of safe learning environments and urged any other potential victims to come forward. He emphasized the responsibility of educators to foster an environment free from abuse and exploitation.

Reyes faces ten counts of lewd acts upon a child under 14. His next court appearance is scheduled for September 27th.
